My Search & Reunion Story

I am a reunited adoptee. I found most of my birth family in October 1996. We are now searching for a younger brother lost to adoption, when we find him then our family will be complete.
We were born in Columbia Hospital in Wilkinsburg, PA. The brother we are searching for was born the first part of December 1949. We were handed to our aparents on the 17th of December 1949, since I was only 9 months old it's quite likely that Charles was premature. Mother passed away December 26, 2001 but the search continues. I promised her that I would find her "lost" baby so the search continues.
Our parents are Charles & Alice Jacobs, they were married at the time of our adoptions & remained that way till our Fathers death in Sept 1995. Like a number of people in those days, they were forced to make a decision to either part with their children or watch them starve. Our father couldn't find steady work & money was extremely short. They NEVER forgot us & loved us enough to try to see that we were provided for better than they could at the time. Had they been informed of the final adoption hearings they would have reclaimed us.
Please look at the pictures of me & my "first family" to see if you know anyone that looks like us.

An Adoptee's Plea

They took away the children,
And they took away their names,
And they gave them to new parents,
To hide the shame.
They said none of this would matter,
Once it was covered up,
But now I'm here to tell you
That we have had enough.
We need to know our histories
Our own identities.
It's not enough to tell us
We're just adoptees.
We need to know our race; our culture;
Our medical history.
As well as that, we'd like to know
How we came to be.
I cannot tell you what it's like,
The frustration and the pain;
Words cannot describe it
They would only be in vain.
Just try to understand
What we are asking for;
A vital piece of our own selves
To fill the void - to heal the soul

LEGACY OF AN ADOPTED CHILD

Once there were two women
Who never knew each other
One you do not remember, The other you call mother
Two different lives, Shaped to make yours one.
One became your guiding star,
The other became your sun
The first gave you life,
And the second taught you to live it.
One gave you a need for love,
And the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality,
The other gave you a name
One gave you the seed of talent,
The other you an aim
One gave you emotions,
The other calmed your fears.
One gave you up,
It was all that she could do,
The other prayed for a child,
And God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me through your tears,
The age-old question through the years,
Heredity or environment which are you the product of?
Neither, my darling, neither, just two different kinds of love.
